Kiddle: One More Tool To Keep Kids Safe

woman and girl looking at laptopNow that the Internet is nearly everywhere—from smartphones to tablets—as people who care for children, we must be extremely vigilant. It is all too easy for kids to be exposed to dangerous material online, whether purposefully or by accident.

At the same time, innovators have developed a number of tools with which we can protect our children (as well as ourselves!) from things we do not want them exposed to. Perhaps the most important of these are Internet filters, such as Covenant Eyes or SafeEyes that block objectionable content and provide accountability reports about users’ activity.

Kiddle.co is another great platform—a search engine that weeds out any search results that are not kid friendly. Kiddle uses Google’s algorithms to find content but only shows appropriate results relying on Google’s safe search option and Kiddle’s own editors.

Ultimately, while tools like this are needed and helpful, the most important thing we can do is protect our children by monitoring and limiting Internet use and by guiding and educating them about Internet safety. We have the opportunity to help children develop healthy Internet habits, avoid destructive content and dangerous situations and to use online tools safely.
