Celebrating a Much-Needed Easter

The Joy of Easter makes all things new, bright and beautiful. It washes away anger, sadness and fear. The resurrection fulfills all promises and gives us the strength to carry on. The pains we all experience give way to a new understanding of what it means to be washed clean in Baptismal waters, which are healing, life-giving and change us forever.

When we embrace our Baptism, we are welcomed into a new life of Joy. As we celebrate this much needed Easter, let us be mindful of our Baptismal call to turn from all things that deter us from our Christian path and to embrace the path of righteousness. Let us pray this litany of Easter Joy:

That we may find Joy in the small things of life, and see all as gifts!
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we may see the message of Easter Joy in all parts of our lives.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we may not be deterred from Joy, even through difficulties.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we find ways in which to preach the Good News of Easter every day.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That our lives be an example of Easter Joy to all we encounter.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That our sorrows be small and our Joys be multiplied.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we spend time each day with those we love.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we find forgiveness comes readily to us.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we look for opportunities to lift up the lowly.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

That we find the courage each day to live out Joy in its fullness.
God, fill us with Easter Joy!

Amen.
