Swine Flu
The AGOS Group, LLC
As most of us are aware, there is growing concern throughout the United States and aboard regarding a new type of influenza—swine flu. Although the current outbreak seems relatively contained at this point, it is important to take such situations seriously. As a result, The AGOS Group, LLC has compiled the following advisory and will make additional information available in the future.
Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus.
It has been determined that this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human. Currently, though, it is not known how easily the virus spreads between people. In an effort to prevent contracting this and many viral illnesses, it is very important to maintain good hygiene, to avoid those who are infected, and to get plenty of rest.
Due to the recent human swine influenza outbreak, the World Health Organization has raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 5—the second highest level. This phase is indicative of the confirmed and sustained person-to-person spread of the virus in at least two countries. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are working with and local and state health agencies to investigate this developing situation.
Symptoms of swine flu in humans can be similar to the symptoms of regular human flu. They can include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, and fatigue. Some people have also reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.
